What We Do

We do lazy mornings with Daddy on the weekends:

We do too much screen time with the Kindle & new iPad:

We do car washes with our Matchbox cars when it's hot outside:

(We also later dump the entire bottle of Palmolive on the track, 

leading to a half-hour of Dad spraying everything down and a giant river of suds on the sidewalk. 

Now we owe Mom $0.88 for the soap and Dad $1.00 for the water. Worth it? Absolutely).

We also finish up 5 years of landscaping work on our front yard: 

Jon is rightly proud of his newly-acquired brick-laying, masonry and landscaping skills.

Megan is proud of her work to save the lawn (an ongoing battle every year with crabgrass).

And Seth is proud of the pansies he chose to plant in the planters.

Catherine enjoys ripping the petals off the pansies when Mom & Seth aren't watching.

And that's what we do when we're not too busy doing everything else!

What Princesses Do

*Princesses like to announce "Happy Birthday, Mommy!" to you for no reason.

This is very confusing for the people at the store who keep asking if it's your birthday.

*Princesses don't like baby dolls. They will however, take their pet dinosaurs for walks:

(Princesses also love their tiny rubber lizards. Apparently reptiles are big with royalty).

*Princesses acquire a sassy voice at quite a young age. 

"No! No go to bed!" is a frequent announcement, complete with furrowed brows and pouty lips.

*Princesses love "bounce balls":

*Princesses also refuse to wear any sort of hair accessories, much to their mothers' dismay.

*Princesses often retire to the bottom of the stairs to sit when they are sad or offended.

They also refer to it as "time out", which perplexes their parents since "time out" isn't used at their house.

*Princesses also waver between being potty-training and...not being potty-trained.

It's more fun to keep the peasants guessing. 

*Princesses also wear ALL of their new panties AT THE SAME TIME.

*Princesses like to do things "self." Also frequently heard: "No! Catherine do it!"

*Princesses frequently channel their inner feline and start meowing at people.

This happens most often when Princesses don't want to answer a question they have been asked

or don't want to do something they've been told to do.

Example: "Catherine, do you want to walk or Mommy carry you?"

Answer: "Meeeeeeeeooooooooowww!"

*Princesses occasionally enjoy a bike ride, but the swings are much more fun.

*Princesses also master the eye-roll at an incredibly young age.

Mom was speechless the first time her question was answered with an eye-roll at age two.

*Princesses love to imitate their big brothers in everything.

This is obvious from statements like, "Watch my cool trick!" to van-climbing conquests: 

*Princesses also like to pester their big brothers by saying things like 

"I have more juice than you! Hee hee hee!"

Actually, usually just saying "Hee, hee, hee!" is enough to get a good reaction.

*Princesses also love Nursery and have no issues with anything related to parent-separation.

And, finally:

*Princesses master the art of climbing into (not out of) their cribs, 

prompting Mom to transform the crib into a "big girl bed":

*Princesses love having anytime access to their beds and love being able to

get out of bed by themselves in the morning. 

They also turn off their own sound machines and nightlights upon awakening.

*Princesses still have not mastered the art of opening doors, 

which means door-banging has become a morning routine.

*Princesses make their moms & dads smile and give the best morning snuggles.

Seth Paparazzi

Next on my list of things to buy myself? A new camera.

Mostly so that Seth can inherit my old one, which he has basically taken over anyway.
