Annapolis

My awesome friend (and fellow homeschooler) Dawn had to go and move away earlier this year. She's not too far away, but we hadn't managed to make the hour-ish drive down to see their new place yet. But then Jon went out of town for 8 days (more on that later), leaving me with a lot of open time to fill.

We set a date to get together and then found out about a great activity put together by some fellow LDS homeschoolers: a 40 minute cruise around Annapolis. ('Cruise' in this sense wasn't nearly as glamorous as you might expect. We took a boat ride). We've been here over five years now and still hadn't seen Annapolis, so off we went!

The boat was a big hit with the kids:
Catherine, Tristan, Garrett & Seth

Me & Catherine (it was a tiny bit hot & sunny on top of that boat)

Boats from the Naval Academy practicing in the water

Catherine loved the boats.
Seth loved the buoys.

Cruising Princess

The River Queen

We decided to head downtown for lunch. Catherine was having none of this "hold Mommy's hand" thing:

Seth was very concerned about Catherine accidentally falling off the boardwalk and into the water. He ran back from where he was walking with Garrett so he could hold her hand:

As it turns out, waiting for food at a diner with 4 hungry kids was probably not the wisest decision we've ever made. Let's just say we were glad to be out of there and headed to Dawn's house when we were done!

And now we've seen Annapolis and can give a nice tour. So come visit us!

Catherine is looking way too old - tiny but independent!
