Aaron at 4 Months

Which he proceeds to poo-splode out of every time we put it on him.

And now let us sing the praises of four-month-old babies: HALLELUJAH!

At four months old, Aaron is:

*pretty consistently going down for naps 60-90 minutes after waking up. He'll also give me at least one good (2 hour) nap a day, although he's not consistent on which nap it will be.

*going to bed at a decent hour (anywhere from 7 to 8:30 pm). I LOVE having some kid-free time in the evenings again. He is, however, quite insistent that he be put to sleep for the night in his car seat. No problem with the crib during the day, but he REFUSES at night. I blame Jon for spoiling him.

Did mention that Jon's a sucker for fussy babies?

*Jon did, however, discover the secret method of getting Aaron to sleep: two waffle blankets, one draped along each side of his head/body. Apparently he doesn't like sleeping with his ears uncovered (like his mommy). Why my kids always insist on sleeping in SIDS-unfriendly ways is a mystery to me.

*nursing every three hours or so. I almost died when he went back to every two hours for a few days (forgot about that four month growth spurt). He's also given me a few nights with chunks from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. Crossing my fingers for more of that!

*grabbing things

*spending some quality time in his jump-a-roo (although he's not sure if he really likes it yet).

Catherine had to test out the Jumperoo before letting Aaron in:

She's technically not over the 30 lb. weight limit yet...

*14 lbs. 4 oz. and 25.5 inches long. Which puts him right in between his chubby big brother and his petite little sister (pediatrician has him at 50% for weight and 75% for height).

*said his first word. Okay, not really, but every time we say, "Hi!", he says, "Heh!" And smiles.

*starting to spit up, which I find so strange. Never spit up as a newborn, but the past week he's gotten me several times.

*still rolling over, despite our fears that he had forgotten how to do it. But generally chewing on his fists is more interesting than rolling over.

We'll be seeking a new pediatrician soon.

*still a chatterbox. His pediatrician got a full recital of his singing, cooing, and shrieking. Her comment? "Wow. You don't normally hear that range of sounds in babies this age! He's going to be the class clown." He's also started giving us some good belly laughs (especially when we "eat" his belly).

*chubby, sweet, mellow, easy baby. Aaron only fusses when he wakes up (hungry) or when he's ready for a nap (tired). He's more like Seth as far as inflexibility with naps: if he misses one, we will pay later. But 90% of the time he's just happy to watch, sing, and grab things.
