Grandma Comes, and Other Adventures

And then it was time for everyone's favorite time: when Grandma comes to stay! Lucky us: we got to keep her for an entire month! Can you say "spoiled"?  

Elise was very helpful getting the bedroom all ready for Grandma. She made sure the nice clean sheets were all jumped on before Grandma arrived:

And then she was here! I don't think I got off the couch for the entire month. Mom did it all: fed people, entertained people, rocked the swing so Elijah would stay asleep, and cleaned all the things. Laundry was done so often that my kids could wear the same outfit every day (and they did).

Of course, it wasn't ALL sitting around holding a baby. Sometimes we did fun things like celebrate Mother's Day. Catherine, as usual, took the initiative and made me a sweet banner:

We also got to celebrate Grandma on Mother's Day!

Surrounded by grandkids is the best way to celebrate. 

Our biggest adventure was homeschool day at River Valley Ranch. Both Seth & Catherine got to spend the day doing ropes courses and other awesome outdoor activities with a huge batch of homeschoolers. 

What we didn't count on was the weather being FREEZING in the middle of May. Thankfully the ones doing climbing and hiking were warm enough, but those of us who were just hanging out for the day were SO cold. Thankfully my friend Kate found us a place to hang out and keep warm. Not as much fun as letting the kids run around and play in the creek like we planned, but we survived! Hopefully we'll get better weather next time around.

Until we got there, of course. 

Catherine realized that she, I, and Elijah all had matching shirts. Emma had one as well. We all decided to coordinate one Sunday. Of course, Elijah had to poop on his outfit, so he was forced to wear his "not quite as matching" outfit:

And the love of math continues! This Sunday afternoon was spent learning about Aaron's new number obsession: powers of ten. I now know more about the naming of large numbers than I ever expected to need to know.
