Aaron's Fungi

Aaron chose to spend part of his science time this year studying fungi. Again. This time we took a deeper dive and learned some really cool stuff about lots of different fungi. At the end of the unit we went to Wegmans and grabbed a bunch of fungi foods to enjoy in celebration! 

Bread, stinky cheese, various mushrooms, and Chocorooms.

Sadly, Chocorooms have zero mushroom content. But they are so cute!

We also acquired a pink oyster mushroom grow kit.

I was a bit skeptical, but we ended up with great mushrooms!

We probably could have let them grow longer, but we were headed to Tennessee for Christmas and couldn't bring them with us. So we sautéed them with some garlic and soy sauce and HOLY DELICIOUS. Oysters are my new favorite mushroom.

Not fungi related, but a really cool math project we did!

It's called the 1492 Project. Using only the digits 1 4 9 2, standard arithmetic (add subtract multiply divide), plus factorials and square roots, can you make every number from 1-100? It took us a few weeks and we had to call in reinforcements (Grandma Sara and Jon), but we got them all! 

I love homeschooling Aaron. He's so much fun to learn with.
