Off to Tennessee

Earlier this year Marah and Stephen brought up the idea of going to the Great Smoky Mountains for Christmas. Since it's driveable for us, we were all in. But, as usual with Mikesell vacations, we went through several combinations of who was/wasn't coming until we finally ended up with EVERYONE coming! Hooray!!

It was a 9-10 hour drive for us, so we loaded everyone up super early and got on the road.
Van full of kids in the dark.

Thankfully we made it without any incidents! And since we had the shortest drive, we arrived first and got to pick dibs on rooms (really we kinda figured it all out before, but we made sure the arrangements were all going to work out).

Catherine chose to sleep in the giant bean bag.
The giant bean bag was quite a popular location during our week stay.

The house we stayed in was enormous and beautiful. Enough room for all the Mikesells (although Weirichs and Kofords both had their kids in the rooms with them, which is not anyone's favorite). Lots of room for playing games, plus a hot tub and a fire pit. Marah even brought a Christmas tree to make it extra festive!

It was going to be a lovely week with family, doing all the fun things together.

And then Elise burst into our room in the middle of the night and puked on the floor. And thus the plague began.
