After months of waiting (and a week's delay due to our buyer's finances), it was finally moving day. Even though we worked hard and tried our best to have everything ready, it was still a crazy morning.

We could never have pulled this off without our angel friends, the Washburns, who not only watched our kids all day, but also shoved all our extra food in their fridge/deep freeze (and there was a LOT, despite my attempts to use it all up).
Bye, bye, blue door
Everything went smoothly at settlement, and we were soon on our way to our new house. Such an odd feeling to start the day in one home and finish it in another!
Our new ward jumped right in to help. Not only did we have some good friends come over immediately and help unload boxes, we also had the Young Men show up and help finish off the task. We are so blessed with good people here.
Found this inside a closet door.
I don't think the new house likes me.
The next task was cleaning. Cleaning EVERYTHING. Despite the fresh paint and new flooring, this place was just filthy. It made me a little sad that such a beautiful house was obviously so uncared for. For example, this was the story of my life in the entire main level:
Yes, that is cat/small dog hair.
And it was EVERYWHERE.
Other fun joys included mouse poop in the upstairs bedrooms and behind the fridge, living room blinds pasted with dust and cat hair, strange stains inside Catherine's closet, and a $600 AC repair since the previous owners had apparently never had it serviced.
It was frustrating to arrive to find the house in this condition after all the effort we put into getting our house ready for the new owners. But despite the filth, it was still amazing to go to bed that night knowing that this was OURS now.

That fur still makes me cringe - and I have animals in the house...
Odd how when a mess is of your own making it doesn't seem nearly so bad, verses a "gift" from someone else. It is amazing what you can find lurking in the corners... I am sorry you had to clean your new home, life really isn't fair. I am also sure with your old home you really helped the new family feel more secure with their decision to move in when they noticed how sparkly clean the place was, and someday good things will come around. Life seems to have a special way of evening things up.
